O Prophet! Why (do) you prohibit what has made lawful Allah for you, seeking (to) please your wives? And Allah (is) Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.
View 78 More Translations ↓O PROPHET! Why dost thou, out of a desire to please [one or another of] thy wives, impose [on thyself] a prohibition of something that God has made lawful to thee? But God is much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace
O Prophet, why forbiddest thou what God has made lawful to thee, seeking the good pleasure of thy wives? And God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate
O Prophet! Why holdest thou to be forbidden that which Allah has made lawful to thee? Thou seekest to please thy consorts. But Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful
۞ یَـٰۤأَیُّهَا ٱلنَّبِیُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَاۤ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكَۖ تَبۡتَغِی مَرۡضَاتَ أَزۡوَ ٰجِكَۚ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورࣱ رَّحِیمࣱ ١
yāayyuhā l-nabiyu lima tuḥarrimu mā aḥalla l-lahu laka tabtaghī marḍāta azwājika wal-lahu ghafūrun raḥīmu
